      The majority of the people in sri lanka celebrate the sinhala and tamil new year on a grand scale. this is regarded as the most important cultural and national festival of the sri lanka.

                  This is traditionally connected with the transition of the sun from the zodiac sign of pisces to aries both old and young eagerly wait for this annual festival.                                                                                  

The special bird which heralds the new year is "koha" or the cuckoo bird. he is seen only during this season of the year. the "Erabadu" trees full of red flowers can also be seen.

The new year is celebrated according to special rites.all events connected with this festival are held at auspicious times.first there is "punya kalaya" people go to temples during this period.

After that the auspicious time for cooking of the first meal comes.so with the burst of crackers and the pealing of temple and kovil bells we partake our mealas

then we go to relations houses.we are very happy.i like this new year very much.

This beautiful Diana belonged to an aristocratic family in england.she became princess diana after her marrige with prince charles who is the heir to the british throne.

                                      charles and diana had two sons.

the elder william is now the heir to the throne ofter prince charles.it was later found that diana had led a miserable life with prince charles.so they wanted to part and their marrige ended in a divorce.

Diana started a free life after the divorce.she did social service work too.

it was diana who started a major compaign against landmines.after the compaign was rather succssful.many dignitaries gave her the blessing.like her married life.Diana's untimely death was also very pathetic.she died in france in a vehicle accident several years ago.

paparasi or tabloid news paper reporters carelessness resulted in her death. princess diana was a real beauty.she is fondly remembered by the britons even today.but there came annoying news about Diana's brother.he is reported to have started to sell tickets to those who come to his gardern to pay respect to the place where princess diana was burried.

however,despite all rumours about her the world still remembers Diana with love.as elton jones says she was the rose of england.
